Job Description

The Role

Audentes Therapeutics is currently seeking a Vice President (VP), Global Market Access to join our Commercial leadership team. The VP, Global Market Access role is critical to our mission of bringing gene therapies to patients worldwide.  It is responsible for establishing the global pricing, reimbursement and access strategy for commercial and pipeline products.  Success in this position require an ability to closely collaborate with cross-functional partners.

This position will be based in our San Francisco offices.

The specific responsibilities of this position include, not limited to:

  • Leadership and Global
    • Provide reimbursement and market access perspective as member of commercial leadership team
    • Lead the creation of a global value dossier for products nearing commercialization
    • Partner with clinical, medical, HEOR and market access colleagues to create our value story for private and government payers globally
    • Track trends within gene and cell therapy access, provide updates to leadership and adjust market access strategy as necessary
  • U.S. Market Access 
    • Identify, recruit and retain key market access talent, both for policy/in-house and field operations
    • Partner with government affairs and internal partners to establish payer engagement priorities for government and private payers
    • Recommend and support list pricing during product launch
    • Establish and lead pricing, price reporting and contract committees
  • Ex-US Market Access
    • Create a global market access plan
    • Partner with commercial planning to determine launch sequence
    • Prepare in-country dossiers as required
    • Track global market access and reimbursement environment and provide updates to executive team and board of directors as needed
  • Other
    • Partner with government affairs and patient advocacy efforts to advance legislative efforts
    • Provide pricing and reimbursement guidance and input on pipeline programs and business development opportunities

Required Education, Skills and Experience

  • B.S. degree with 12+ years' experience within commercial roles and 7+ years' of rare/orphan disease market access experience
  • Detailed understanding of dynamics within CMS and state/national Medicaid
  • Launch experience in the U.S. and internationally
  • Ability to travel extensively as position requires

  • Experience with rare/orphan diseases and/or gene therapy products
  • Demonstrated ability to think and act strategically, and proven track record of driving tactical execution within department and in cross functional teams
  • Excellent analytical and creative problem solving, strategic analysis and planning capabilities, involving complex situations
  • Highly developed oral and written communication skills and organizational habits
  • Experience achieving favorable terms with private and government payers in the U.S. and internationally
  • Proficient with MS Office applications

Preferred Education, Skills and Experience

  • MBA and experience in other commercial functions (market access, sales, etc.)
  • Demonstrated ability to recruit and motivate high-performing teams
  • Experience in startup environment
